Taking Refuge 

..I take refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha 

And now especially in the Buddha of Healing..

The Enlightenment Thought 

..for the welfare of all we need to realize enlightenment 

and for this purpose I practice 

this meditation on the Buddha of Healing..

Offerings

..MedicineBuddha, I offer You 

pure water, light, incense, precious stones and flowers 

medicinal plants and nectar 

melodious sounds from cymbals and healing mantras..

Visualization 

..on a water surface in the space before me 

opens a lotus flower crown surrounding a moon disc.. 

on top of the moon disc appears the Medicine Buddha

sitting in meditation posture.. 

his form is like a naturally jewel-radiating Amethyst.. 

he holds a medicinal plant in his right hand 

and a bowl with nectar in his left..

Prayers 

..Medicine Buddha 

may You remedy our diseases and sufferings 

as well as our ailments and their causes..

Special Prayers 

..I also pray to You 

may You fulfill the following special wishes...

..(here follow concentrated thoughts on or recitation of

special wishes one has.. 

The Medicine Buddha dissolves into light which is absorbed by oneself.. 

thereafter the mantra is recited at least 21 times)..
